Every scar tells a story of survival

At twenty years old, Pierre Paul carries the scars of a shattered life. Born to parents trapped in Haiti’s gang wars, he was raised under the fragile protection of his aunt – his only beacon of love in a world ruled by violence. When she is brutally killed, everything collapses.

What follows is a desperate escape. From Port-au-Prince to the Dominican Republic, across the ocean and through Europe, Pierre Paul faces hunger, solitude, exploitation, and unspeakable abuse. Yet, in the darkest places, a faint light refuses to die out.

From shadow to light, this powerful docufiction follows the harrowing odyssey of a young man fighting to survive, reclaim his humanity, and find – somewhere in Switzerland – the right to exist and love again.
